What is Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21)
A condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21, resulting in 47 chromosomes (three copies of chromosome 21) instead of the usual 46. A medical term for having an extra copy of chromosome is ‘trisomy.' Nondisjunction is the most common type of Down’s Syndrome.
